Hugoton, Kansas is a rural, family oriented
town of 3,700 located in Southwest Kansas. Thirty-two miles from
Liberal, Kansas and one-hundred fifty miles from Amarillo, Texas.
Hugoton offers small town life with excellent highways to other larger
cities. Hugoton is the county seat of Stevens County, population of
6,000 which boasts its natural gas and agricultural industries,
complemented by the Stevens County Development Corporation and an
active Chamber of Commerce.
The county's cultural, social and recreational
facilities offer a friendly, family-oriented life-style. Five schools
serve Stevens County. Community colleges are located in Liberal and
Garden City.
Stevens County Airport provides a paved, 5000
foot runway which can accommodate planes up to small jets. Hugoton
enjoys all four seasons with an excellent golf course, organized
sports for children, and easy access to the mountains of Colorado for
skiing or hiking
The Santa Fe trail follows the Cimarron River
across the Northwest corner of Stevens County.
Stevens County has some of the best pheasant,
quail, and dove hunting available anywhere. We are proud to welcome
